Services

All our programs at Mental Edge Fitness Solutions are powered by Biofeedback services. Biofeedback is the art and science of using the mind and cutting edge technologies to control various parts of your body to measure physiological activity like brainwaves, heart rate, body temperature, muscle tension and more.
Throughout our program, the services we offer provide Mind,  Body and  Connection benefits. Some services may benefit more than one area. Create a package depending on your needs or for an elite experience join our Edge Elite program for the complete package.

Biofeedback

Biofeedback works by attaching sensors to various parts of your body to measure physiological activity like brain waves, heart rate, body temperature, respiratory rate and muscle tension.  The benefit of wearing the sensors is so you can see these measurements in real-time on a computer screen.  With these sensors, you can get immediate feedback on your typically hidden mental and physical responses.  You are then able to experiment with modifying your thinking and breathing to facilitate desired physiological changes.

Types of Biofeedback

EEG Biofeedback also known as Neurofeedback or brain training.

A type of biofeedback that enables better brain functioning in the same way that appropriate physical exercise strengthens the body.

Neurofeedback is the direct training of the brain, where one is able to monitor their own brain activity on a computer screen and then learn how to produce brainwave activity that promotes healthy brain function.

Some benefits of Neurofeedback.
› Enhanced cognitive and intellectual functioning
› Improved focus and attention
› Improved memory and concentration
› Improved performanceImproved sleep quality
› Increased energy level and motivation
› Increased productivity
› Improved mood
› Reduces stress and anxiety
Electromyogram Biofeedback also known as EMG Biofeedback

A type of biofeedback that enables better brain functioning in the same way that appropriate physical exercise strengthens the body.

Neurofeedback is the direct training of the brain, where one is able to monitor their own brain activity on a computer screen and then learn how to produce brainwave activity that promotes healthy brain function.

Some benefits of EMG biofeedback.
› Reduces headaches (tension or migraines)
› Reduces muscle tension
› Reduces chronic pain
› Muscle retraining after an injury
Heart Rate Variability Biofeedback also known as HRV Biofeedback

A type of biofeedback that measures heart rate. This type of biofeedback uses a finger or earlobe with a device called a photoplethsmograph or sensors place on your chest, lower torso or wrists using an ECG to measure your heart rate and heart rate variability.

Some benefits of HRV biofeedback.

Stress management and relaxation training

› Reduce high blood pressure
› Reduce cortisol levels
› Improve recovery (better sleep, faster muscle and mental recovery)
› Improve cognitive and memory performance
› Improve mood
› Increased energy level
Thermal Biofeedback also known as Temperature Biofeedback

A type of biofeedback that measures skin temperature. Sensors are attached to your fingers to measure your blood flow to your skin. Temperature often drops when you’re under stress, a low reading can prompt you to begin relaxation techniques and training

Some benefits of Thermal biofeedback.

› Stress management and relaxation training
› Reduce chronic pain
› Improve sleep quality

Electrodermal Biofeedback also known as Skin Conductance

A type of biofeedback that measures and monitors galvanic skin response or how much you’re perspiring. Sensors are attached around your fingers or on your palm or wrist to measure the activity of your sweat glands and the amount of perspiration on your skin.

Some benefits of Thermal biofeedback.

› Stress management and relaxation training
› Reduce chronic pain
› Improve sleep quality

MEF-Meditation™

Meditation is the practice of turning your attention to your breathing, bodily sensations, or on a word or mantra.

Meditation is not a part of any religion; it is a science, which means that the process of meditation follows a particular order, has definite principles, and produces results that can be verified.

MEF-Yoga™

Yoga is a process of becoming more aware of who we are. Yoga techniques facilitate balance and health.

Yoga is a science, that is, it is a body of techniques that lead us to consciously connect with ourselves and with life. Yoga simply tells us to do a certain practice and then to feel the effect of that practice, e.g. if we breathe slowly in a relaxed manner we will slow our heart rate.

Science of Yoga for the mind shows that “it thickens the layers of the cerebral cortex, the part of the brain associated with higher learning, and increases neuroplasticity, which helps us learn new things and change the way we do things”

Performance Testing

When it comes to performance MEFS wants to ensure our clients are mentally equipped for optimal performance. When assessing your brain and body’s performance Mental Edge Fitness utilizes the latest cutting edge technology to assist in identifying how your brain’s performing.

MEFS Cognitive Performance Assessment (Brain Map)

Quantitative electroencephalography (qEEG) is a diagnostic tool for understanding how well your brain is working. A healthy brain has optimal speed. We place up to 19 sensors on your scalp that measure and record your brain’s electrical activity. With that information, we can determine in what areas your brain may be moving too fast or in what areas your brain may be moving too slow. From there we gather additional information and create a plan to optimize your brain’s performance.

MEFS Physiologic Stress Assessment

MEFS physiologic stress assessment allows our team to assess our client’s physiology when in mentally challenging and stressful situations. The ability to remain calm under pressure and respond and recover quickly when performing are key components when performing at an elite level.

MEFS Bioset

MEFS Comprehensive evaluation with BioSET allows us to assess the brain and gut of our clients. A distressed gut sends signals to the brain just as a troubled brain sends signals to the gut. Both of these systems, regulate the immune system. If a person is consuming food or drinks that they are intolerant to, have sensitivity to, or do not digest, it will cause stress on the digestive system which in turn, causes stress on the brain and the immune system includes. We perform a variety of evaluations, techniques and protocols geared towards improving the areas below:

Digestive / Systemic / Toxic / Nutritional / Emotional / Physical

MEFS Reaction Time Assessment and training

MEFS recognizes that our elite athletes have to be able to respond quickly and efficiently under stress.
Continuous Performance testing (CPT) records reaction time and physiology simultaneously. We combine reaction time data with EEG and physiology (mind, body and connection. This allows for an in depth analysis of mind and body activity during sports reaction time training.
