How does our brain work?
"Brainwaves are produced by synchronized electrical pulses from neurons communicating with each other."
Brainwaves are produced by synchronized electrical pulses from neurons communicating with each other. The speed of the electrical energy flowing through the brain is known as our processing speed or brainwaves. At MEFS, thanks to cutting-edge technology and science-based tools and techniques we can now see, analyze and understand how your brain is performing and create training programs to improve its performance.
Why is understanding brainwaves important?
"A healthy brain should be able to access to these brain speeds/states effortlessly"
A healthy brain has optimal speed. Think about your brain speed like shifting gears on a bike. A healthy brain should be able to access these brain speeds/states effortlessly. For example, if your brain is stuck in high gear for too long you could experience being overwhelmed, anxious, overly stressed, irritable, tension headaches, and more. The same is also true for being stuck in low gear, you could experience trouble with motivation, difficulty learning, and processing information, difficulty regulating your moods, and more.

What is Neurofeedback?
Neuro = Brain | Feedback = Response
Google Review: D.M.

MEFS cognitive training has really improved my ability to focus and retain information in my new position...
Neurofeedback, also known as brain training or EEG biofeedback, is about “feedback” from the brain and it helps train brain activity and improve cognitive performance. It works by placing a few harmless sensors (readers) on the scalp to measure and monitor brain activity intended to train someone to gain voluntary control over that brain function. Neurofeedback is a subset or a type of biofeedback.
It's a real procedure that involves brain training to improve mental performance or alleviate specific issues and improve specific others. The objective of a Neurofeedback training session revolves around training the brain towards optimal function allowing individuals to self-regulate.
Biofeedback
It's a process consisting of electronic monitoring of any normal bodily function intended to train someone to gain voluntary control over that function. Through biofeedback you can learn to control things like your heart rate, breathing, muscle tension and even improve your brain function, through a process known as neurofeedback
During the session you will be asked to watch a movie you like, play a game or listen to music.

What Exactly Happens in a Neurofeedback Training Session
Google Review: J.R.

I feel more competitive in all areas of my life. I am more focused and have greater clarity...
During a neurofeedback session, you sit comfortably in front of a computer for 20-30 mins that will monitor your brainwaves, with a few sensors placed on your scalp in front of a screen or monitor. EEG sensors that monitor/read your brainwaves are a core aspect of all MEFS neurofeedback programs. Sensors are harmless and non-invasive and only read your brain's electrical impulses called waves. You will be asked to watch a movie you like, play a computer game or listen to music. The screen/monitor or the sounds/tones that you hear helps generate the feedback during the session.
"Sensors are harmless, non-invasive and only read your brain's electrical impulses called brain waves."
The first step is to choose a movie you like from Netflix or from our movie library, a brain game or music. Yes, you can watch the movie you desire at that moment! In the next step, we will place sensors on your scalp and on your ears. These sensors are totally harmless and will only read your brain waves. The next and probably the most fun step is to watch your movie, play a game or listen to music. The last and most interesting step is to learn about your results and your progress.

The "FEEDBACK"
Google Review: A.F.

I have experienced better focus and productivity...
When your brain enters a calmer, focused or the desired state you will be rewarded with positive feedback on the computer screen by the game, movie, or music operating smoothly. If your brainwaves are not firing at the desired speed you will receive negative feedback (the movie pauses, the game stops, or music stops). This process is acting as a reward or conditioning system for your brain. With this type of immediate feedback, your brain will learn when something is out of balance and it will also learn what it needs to do to get back on track.
Good performance = Positive FEEDBACK (you can see the images or hear the sounds) | Poor performance = Negative FEEDBACK ( you can’t see the images or hear the sounds)
"Consequently, the brain has to “figure out” how to restore balance and get the reward again"
The catch is that the stimuli (music, game or video) operate smoothly only when the brainwaves function within an optimal range. This stimulus acts as a reward for the brain. On the other hand, when the brain does not produce waves in an optimal range, you will receive something called negative feedback. For instance, the movie pauses, or the music fades away.
This negative feedback is essentially “telling” your brain that it is headed down the wrong lane. Consequently, the brain has to “figure out” how to restore balance and get the reward again.
The Feedback Process
A. Good performance = Positive FEEDBACK | YOU CAN SEE THE IMAGES OR HEAR THE SOUNDS
B. Poor performance = Negative FEEDBACK | YOU CAN’T SEE THE IMAGES OR HEAR THE SOUNDS
The highly effective "Neurofeedback"
Google Review: K.M.

Has helped to increase my focus, mental stamina, and energy...
While you watch the movie, play the game or listen to music, your brain will need to perform in an optimal range in order to be able to see the movie images or hear the sounds. If you are not performing within an optimal range, the image or sound will temporarily fade. You will need to focus on the task you are doing (watching a movie or listening to music) in order to see or listen to your feedback selection.
Neurofeedback, rooted in science, is highly effective for optimal brain performance. The brain is a muscle that needs to be strengthened and exercised. Neurofeedback is like exercise for the brain and through repetition, practice, and time your brain creates new neural pathways that are long-lasting and permanent.
Neurofeedback is becoming mainstream and is being used all over the world by Olympic athletes, colleges and universities, top executives, entrepreneurs, and high-profile celebrities who express the impact it’s had on their careers and performance. Through our programs, these types of individuals are taking advantage of this effective tool to improve performance as it has never done before. It's a real procedure that involves brain training to improve mental performance or alleviate specific issues like insomnia, anxiety, etc. The bottom line is that neurofeedback can forever change the way that a person thinks and processes information, thus substantially changing their life.

The Tracking Progress
Google Review: K.F

The program has helped lower my resting heart rate substantially...
Throughout your training program we will be monitoring and tracking your progress after each session. Here you will learn more about your brain waves and you’ll have the opportunity to see a visual representation of where you’re starting but also each session along the way.
This is a feedback process, so coming into each session prepared to provide feedback on “any” observations is key (big or small). Over time you will notice changes to your results screens which should also begin to correlate with the changes you will notice in your daily athletic, academic, business and in life routines and challenges.

Client's First Day of Neurofeedback Training

Each color is a representation of certain brain activity. This person results is showing a brain that is disconnected or not regulating as optimally as it could be. All the lines are further apart which could be an indication of some distraction, fatigue or not being in "the zone".
SESSION #10
Client's 10th Day of Neurofeedback Training

We can see there is a big difference in the brain activity. Self-regulation is occurring and things appear to be more in sync. This person is reporting feeling more calm and relaxed and an increased ability to focus and complete tasks.
Analysis and Planning
Google Review: B.R.

I highly recommend this program for those who want to achieve their peak performance...
At MEFS we can monitor and measure your brain activity (by analyzing the brain waves). Brain analysis software like qEEG brain mapping helps identify the specific activities occurring in your brain.
A qEEG brain map gives a visual representation of how your brain is functioning and gives you the ability to visually see your unique patterns of mental strengths and weaknesses categorized into executive processing, memory processing, visual, verbal processing, and more. Then, the practitioners customize a training program to condition your brain to access a more efficient and optimal state.

Amazing Benefits of Neurofeedback
1. Bolsters Cognitive Function
Neurofeedback enhances neuroplasticity (the brain's capacity to adapt and change), and consequently can reverse or slow down the natural aging process. Research concludes that neurofeedback improves executive function and cognitive processing speed in elderly subjects. Specific instances of neurofeedback training like the beta rhythms of decreasing sensorimotor rhythm (SMR) can improve reaction time.
Another neurofeedback training session aimed at improving the alpha brain wave activity helped subjects boost their visual-spatial reasoning performance (complex mental object rotation). Subjects who were able to learn to boost their alpha brain wave activity via neurofeedback performed better at visual-spatial reasoning task (mental object rotation) [21, 22].
2. Improves Sleep Duration and Quality
When neurofeedback stimulates the sensorimotor rhythm (SMR) brain waves, sleep quality increases while time to fall asleep decreases.
Neurofeedback is a massive blessing for insomniacs. Recent research has brought to light that 18 sessions of remote or mobile neurofeedback (conducted by a certified therapist in the convenience via the internet) reduced time to fall asleep while increasing the total sleep duration.
A follow-up study confirmed that the sleep-related benefits that neurofeedback provides lasted up to 9 months. Research also suggests that theta feedback helped tense and anxious patients, while relaxed subjects only found the SMR feedback to be beneficial.
3. Helps Acquire and Hone Skills Faster
Helps promote brain waves associated with relaxation and attention. As a result, professional musicians were able to improve their performance even in stressful conditions. A follow-up study concluded that alpha/theta neurofeedback enhances the creativity, technical skills, and communication of novice musicians. Additionally, SMR neurofeedback improved their techniques too. Neurofeedback training (alpha/theta) reportedly improved musical performance of school children. As a result, neurofeedback has immense potential to revolutionize the way students learn in classrooms. On a side note, neurofeedback helped actors learn quicker while improving their creativity. Moreover, their quality and confidence also increased. Neurofeedback also impacts athletic performance. Both dance performance and golfing accuracy of subjects improved by neurofeedback. Furthermore, other essential skills like visual-spatial abilities and reaction time were also improved by neurofeedback.
4. Lowers Anxiety
Neurofeedback can help control and alter emotional processes. Research shows that neurofeedback training aimed at improving subjects’ alpha wave activity reduced several negative emotions, including anxiety.
Neurofeedback training targeting the alpha and theta brain waves boosted confidence and enhanced mood in a study involving medical students. Theta and alpha brain wave neurofeedback reportedly lowered stress and performance anxiety in singers, musicians, and dancers.
Anxiety and stress are huge productivity killers and can massively impact the mental performance of athletes and celebrities. Neurofeedback helps curb these intense emotions and heighten overall mental performance.
5. Could Help With Depression
Several studies reveal that neurofeedback targeting the alpha brain waves produced in the frontal cortex has vast potential in treating depression by reducing anxiety and boosting moods of individuals.
Hemodynamic (HEG) neurofeedback (that helps control blood flow in particular brain regions) is quite effective in treating depression by stimulating responses to positive memory fragments present in the limbic system (a vital brain network responsible for regulating and processing emotions).
Additionally, a controlled study involving 10 depressed people concluded that neurofeedback helps slow down the brain’s responses to negative information. As a result, their depression symptoms got alleviated.
6. Mental Performance
Research shows that the base cause for several disorders is a specific brain function dysregulation. If the brain is not able to regulate itself properly a host of symptoms can arise, anxiety, trouble sleeping, difficulty with focus and attention and more. The objective of a neurofeedback training session revolves around training the brain towards optimal function allowing individuals to self-regulate.
Research has shown that after a string of neurofeedback sessions, the brain tends to adopt the improved function and the symptoms of disorders diminish.
Enhance mental performance and attain peak performance. Since brain activity is the major contributor to performance, understanding it and training it can help attain optimum results.
Neurofeedback by Elite Performers

Tony Robbins

Tony Robbins is a self-help king who has trained athletes, politicians, and organizations attain exponential success. Interesting fact: Tony has also trained shooters in the US army! His books like “Unlimited Power” and “Awake the Giant Within” are best sellers.
Tony Robbins, a satisfied customer of the Biocybernaut Institute, is reportedly enjoying the benefits of neurofeedback. James Hardt, a renowned psychologist, has been researching the likes of neurofeedback since the 1980s. His company, the Biocybernaut Institute, claims that the week retreat package they offer imparts the benefits and wellness of 20 years of meditation.

Fast forward into the present, and Tony Robbins' testimonial reveals that his multitasking abilities have skyrocketed. He can visualize two different tasks with utmost accuracy. Drafting an email and conversing with a person are both possible without any compromise in quality.
Kerri Walsh-Jennings

The dynamic American volleyball duo of Kerri Walsh-Jennings and Misty May-Treanor dominated the sport for over a decade. They clinched the gold medals at both the 2004 and the 2008 Summer Olympics. However, the pair entered the 2012 Olympics in London as a third-seeded team. It was quite usual, especially after having excelled at the previous two Olympics outings.
"The data generated helped teach herself how to suppress the brain waves that give rise to low"
Ms. Jennings felt her joints become loose and muscles stretched out as a result of her pregnancies. Her sleep took a toll and also did her energy levels. Looking to change things, Kerri signed up for a neurofeedback program in LA-based Neurotopia. Her testimonial revealed that neurofeedback helped her stay calm in pressure moments. Moreover, the data generated from her brain waves helped teach herself how to suppress the brain waves that give rise to low performance. Additionally, she learned to increase the brain waves associated with peak brain performance. Deservingly, the duo went on to win the London Olympics as well, for a third consecutive time.
Chris Kaman

NBA Clippers’ star Chris Kaman reportedly got misdiagnosed with ADHD (Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder). Kaman partnered up with Royer and Neurofeedback technology. During his sessions, he found ways to regulate his brain waves and stay calm during crunch moments in his game.
"He found ways to regulate his brain waves and stay calm during crunch moments in his game"
As a result, Kaman played with a cool head and made better decisions during his games. He averaged at a whopping 17.9 points per game in the 2008 NBA season. Kaman attributed his new found form to neurofeedback training and the underlying peak performance attaining benefits.
Dr. Royer from the neurofeedback company figured out that the ADHD was a false call. Interestingly, Kaman's brain was found to be working too fast, as opposed to the too slow claims his ADHD diagnosis revealed.
